Palma.—Abeachcomber using a metal detector to search Palmanova beach drowned yesterday morning after having suffered a suspected heart attack.
According to the emergency services and eyewitnesses, the individual was wearing a wet suit and was in the water up to his waist, combing the sand under the water when he suffered the suspected heart attack and collapsed in the water.
The alarm was raised just after 10am when a group of bathers spotted the body floating near in shallow water near the beach.
The emergency services and the police rushed to the scene but there was nothing that could have been done to revive the individual who was declared dead at the scene.
