Palma.—The foothills of the Tramuntana mountain are under threat from the large amounts of rubbish dumped in its vicinities by some residents.
Residents in the municipality of Esporles have raised the alarm and not for the first time, after spotting large amounts of waste, residual waste and sanitary furniture in the Puig des Moro de Son Quint area, an area, according to them declared as a World Heritage site by Unesco.
Construction material has also been found by the locals as well as off cuts from tree branches.
The latter is generating a wave of concern, since neighbours fear they could be the off cuts from a type of palm tree infected by the lethal plague caused by a species of red beetles.
What is more, residents are upset that their warnings have fallen on deaf hears.
