Palma.—The 87 percent increase in investment in the Balearics by central government next year, has not fooled any one because the Balearics will still receive the lowest amount of public funds than any other region of Spain.
This year, the Balearics had to make do with 74.02 million euros of public funding, next year, the region has been pledged 138.45 million euros, but even the Balearic government said yesterday that it intends to battle for more funding.
The Confederation of Balearic Businesses (CAEB) called on the regional government to address the issue of the Balearics “being at the end of the line” when it comes to public funding.
“Unless the Balearic government can secure extra funding from Madrid, the rate of economic growth is going to be much slower than is other parts of the country,” CAEB said in a statement.
