Palma.—The Oktoberfest, Germany’s most famous beer festival and celebrated annually across Majorca, returned to Palma yesterday and will run until 26 October.
And this year, apart from the usual large variety of beer on offer, all the major sports events will shown on a large screen set up in the complex.
Sports fans can follow all the Formula One action, La Liga and Champions League football matches, including Barcelona and Real Madrid’s clashes against Ajax and Liverpool, Spain’s “El Clasico” between Barcelona and Real Madrid and this weekend’s American Grand Prix.
Drinking games like pull the rope, darts and beer lifting contests will also be arranged.
The prizes will be no surprise - more beer.
Beer enthusiasts will have the opportunity to enjoy and choose from a variety of Paulaner beers, non alcoholic beers, dark beers and wheat beers.
A one litre pitcher of beer costs eight euros, the half litre, five. For those who want to pay less, every day the first hour of the event has been turned into a “Happy hour”.
Two euros will be slashed off the price during that time.
There will be live music including performances by El Sevilla and Los Mojinos Escocios, a Spanish comedy rock band on Thursday.
