Fourteen students from the Balearic University are now working directly with police forces on the island to help with matters related to tourists and foreign residents.

Palma.—The students, all enrolled in English Studies courses and fluent in English, holding either an advanced or advanced plus certificate, are collaborating with both the Local Police and the National Police.
The pioneering programme,  which started on 6 October and will extend until 23 January, was yesterday made official by the central government delegate to the Balearics, Teresa Palmer.
The delegate explained that the students, working mainly with police forces in Palma, but with the possibility of extending their services to Palmanova in the future,  are there to help foreign nationals who struggle to express themselves in Spanish.
