Balearic drivers will not be able to make the most of the reduction in petrol prices for another two months, the president of the Balearic Petrol Stations Federation confirmed yesterday.

Palma.—Crude prices are still far below historic highs of the past, but further reductions agreed by the authorities recently will have to wait until the New Year, contrasting with patterns verified when prices are due to rise, which take effect immediately.
The price for a barrel of Brent crude oil, Europe’s reference barrel, was yesterday set at 79 dollars, three less than last weekend but still at its lowest level in the past four years.
Petrol and diesel prices in the Balearics have been for years now the most expensive in Spain, and the Federation, via its president Jesus Salas, revealed yesterday their hopes that the slash in prices can take effect sooner rather than later.
