Palma.—A 23-year-old man was arrested by police yesterday after stones he threw from a motorway bridge hit a police car.
Numerous drivers have informed police over recent weeks that their vehicles had been hit by stones thrown from a bridge spanning the Palma to Inca motorway. Yesterday, the police were given a first hand insight into the problem when a stone hit their vehicle. The 23-year-old was taken into custody.
One of the victims of the recent attacks is Maria Antonia Salazar who was hit in the face by a stone thrown from one of the bridges earlier this week and needed hospital treatment for a broken nose and various face injuries.
She was a passenger in a car driven by her husband when the attack took place.
“It was a nightmare. What those people have done to me is almost murder,” she said.
“I will have the wounds from the attack for the rest of my life.”
