Balearic residents are on the edge of their seats, as the deadline for the Environment Ministry’s decision on oil prospecting in the area is due tomorrow.
The Ministry is expected to release a report explaining what impact prospecting will have on the local flora and fauna, which will determine whether or not oil and gas prospecting will go ahead.
Top Spanish media news organisations highlighted yesterday the fact that a previous report released on 12 December by Maritime authorities confirmed a series of oil prospecting trials which took place between July 2012 and July 2013, were never authorised and had a negative impact on the local environment.
