THE Three Kings still reign supreme in the Balearics and Father Christmas is a distant second, according to research released yesterday.
Four out of five Balearic residents say that they prefer their Three King´s gift to the ones on Christmas Day. The survey, by the online research company DaWanda.es, stated that 98 percent of those surveyed (2,500 people) said that for them the Three King´s were the stars of the festive season.
“The tradition is passed on from parents to children and there is no sign that Father Christmas is gaining ground,” the company said yesterday. And also online shopping is continuing to grow in popularity with Balearic residents saying that they did part of their Christmas shop on the internet.
The research also underlined the fact that children were the biggest winners of the festive period with 64 percent of parents saying that they spent more on presents for their children than other members of their family or friends.
The research yesterday came as Palma welcomed the Royal Pages who arrived in style at the Palma Town Hall yesterday. The Royal Pages have a single mission;to collect all the children´s list of wishes for presents for the Three Kings. Hundreds of children of all ages were in the Plaza Cort yesterday to greet the Pages ahead of the actual parade which will take place through the streets of Palma on Monday evening. This year  Palma City Council have spent more than 200,000 euros on the big  Three Kings event which will attract thousands of people.
