Palma.—Palma Judge Jose Castro, who is leading the investigation into the business affairs of the husband of Princess Cristina, King Felipe VI of Spain’s youngest sister’s, business affairs.
The case centres on the Princess’s husband, Iñaki Urdangarin’s nonprofit foundation, which obtained public contracts from regional governments to stage sports and tourism events.
The judge is investigating whether some of those funds were diverted for private use.
Last Friday, lawyers representing Cristina, the Duchess of Palma, appealed against a judge’s decision to try her on charges of tax fraud.
Princess Cristina, 49, is facing prosecution as part of a four-year investigation of her husband, Iñaki Urdangarin, who is accused of money laundering and fraud.
Judge will rule on Princess’s appeal by the weekend
