Palma.—Palma Judge Jose Castro is expected to rule today on Princess Christina’s appeal against his decision to try her on charges of tax fraud.
The 49-year-old was indicted on 22 December as part of a four-year investigation into her husband, Iñaki Urdangarin, who faces money-laundering and fraud charges.
The case centers on Urdangarin’s nonprofit foundation, Noos, which obtained public contracts from regional governments, in particular the authorities here in the Balearics when the former Partido Popular President Jaume Matas, currently in jail, was in power, and Valencia, to stage sports and tourism events.
The judge is investigating whether some of those funds were diverted for private use.
