Palma.—Palma City Council has become inundated with complaints about the mountains of rubbish which have been building up in and around the capital and the general lack of cleanliness.
Resident associations have complained about the lack of street cleaners and have called on the local council to make sure that EMAYA, the municipal water and waste company, complies with its obligations.
“Palma has become one giant waste bin,” complained resident Coloma Ferrer.
A large number of complaints have flooded in from Molinar, a very popular spot for locals and tourists but local residents, who are already locked in a battle to stop the expansion of the local port, have complained that the neighbourhood is filthy and that waste bins are left full to over flowing for days before being emptied.
