Three out of ten retailers in Majorca have seen a surge in sales during the sales period, Pimeco, the entity that represents small and medium sized businesses in the region confirmed yesterday.
Compared with sales figures for the same period in 2013, 32 percent of local business owners reported higher trade, 40 percent said they more or less remained at the same level while 28 percent confirmed their sales figures have actually declined.
Pimeco said that these early reports have “partially pleased the sector” since expectations prior to the sales period showed that 42 percent of shop owners expected sales figures to go up.
