The ‘Al Molinar, Port Petit’ campaign to prevent the marina from being enlarged stepped up its efforts over the weekend.
A total of 4,000 leaflets highlighting why the project must be stopped were handed out as part of a house-to-house awareness drive.
The leaflets were a comic strip of conversations between six local residents and the aim of the campaign is to preserve the values of the local community by not enlarging the port while also “lifting the lid off the lies which the promoters and the directors of the yacht club” have been feeding local residents.
According to the campaign organisers, 86 percent of the local community are opposed to the expansion of the port and, next month, when holiday makers begin arriving, another leaflet drop is going to be held targeting locals and tourists.
