Palma.—Spring starts in only a few days time, 20 March, but do not put those winter warmers away just yet because a severe cold snap is  going to grip the Balearics this weekend.
The lovely spring-like weather we have been enjoying over the past week, ended last night and  today’s weather is going to look very different.
Maria Jose Guerrero, head of the Balearic Meteorological Centre said yesterday that this weekend, today in particular, is going to feel very much like winter.

Isolated storms
Skies are going to be overcast across the island and this afternoon showers and outbreaks of rain, which will be heavy at times in the north of the island and even turn to hail and snow above 800 metres, can be expected.
Guerrero has not ruled out isolated storms either.
