Air fares between the Balearics and mainland Spain have gone down by 12.6 percent since 2008, the local government’s tourism department revealed yesterday.he report was evaluating fare prices between not only the region and the mainland but all national flights. For Antonio Deudero, general director of ports and airports for the region said “the feeling of local residents might be different” but the report, produced by transport consultant Cinesi on behalf of the Tourism department “proves that prices have gone fallen”.
“The statistics have surprised everyone but they are what they are,” Deudero explained. Prices of flights from Majorca slumped by 12.6 percent, but it was in Minorca where prices declined the most, by 26.6 percent, while in Ibiza the decline was in the 24.8 percent region.
