The eyes of Britain and Spain will be on Magalluf on 1 May when new legislation comes into force cracking down on pub crawls, street drinking and ticket touts. Over the last few days we have been contacted by all the major news outlets in Britain regarding the “get tough campaign” on Magalluf. It is a question of wait and see, whether the new laws will be enforced and also to see whether they will make a difference. Now obviously additional police officers are going to be needed to make sure that the new council rulings are respected by all. Some sections of the business community have questioned the new rulings and others have complained that the local authorities are just cracking down on the easy targets. Now, there is obviously a problem with all inclusive hotels taking custom away from bars and clubs in Magalluf and also the question of whether pub crawls should be curtailed. But whatever happens everyone is watching Magalluf to discover whether it will be business as normal or not.
