Just eight working days remain for Palma Town Hall to have available all the reports that have been called for in order to enable it to bring into effect the adjudication of the management of the Palacio de Congresos convention centre and adjoining hotel before the period of valuation placed on the hotel expires.
From 22 May, Mayor Mateo Isern will assume the role of “acting” mayor on account of the elections on 24 May and the subsequent hiatus before a new mayor is ratified. Isern has said that under these circumstances he would not sign any adjudication.
A series of technical and legal reports have been called for by various departments at the town hall and only when they are all gathered will the council have all the information it needs.
When asked if these reports will arrive in time in order that the Barcelo hotel group can be confirmed as the managing operators of the Palacio and the hotel, Julio Martinez, the assistant mayor with responsibilities for the city’s economy, said that no pressure was being applied to those preparing the reports.
