Palma’s Son San Joan airport has already begun to break passenger records this year.
Last month, the airport handled 1,741,570 passengers, 2.3 percent more than during April last year.
The growth markets were the British, the Scandinavians, the Italians, the French, the Swiss, the Germans and the domestic Spanish market.
The domestic market posted growth figures of 7.1 percent and Spanish nationals are expected to compensate for the down turn in the Russian market this year as the domestic sector continues to show signs of recovering from the recession.
But, the market to have shown the largest growth was the Scandinavian sector with 17.4 percent more passengers than last year.
The British, Swiss, French and Italian markets all posted double digit growth figures while the German market, which continues to be the dominant sector, under performed. An early Easter also helped.
