The first two weeks of this month may have been the hottest for  the start of  May since records began, a sudden cold snap is forecast over the next few days.
The head of the Balearic meteorological office, Maria Jose Guerrero,  yesterday forecast that the cold front which has been sweeping across Northern Spain over the past few days from the United Kingdom, will have an effect on weather conditions here in the Balearics.
The cold front will hit the Balearics tonight bringing outbreaks of rain which could be heavy in the early hours.
What is more, the wave of the front will be a mass of cold air which will push temperatures down  by between 4ºC and º6C
Maximum temperatures over the next few days in the north of the island will struggle to reach 17ºC and 18ºC in the south while the norm for this time of year is 22.3ºC.
Over night showers will continue but they will not be as intense as tonight’s and conditions are not forecast to improve until Friday when temperatures will also rise.
