It’s not only the summer that is getting into full swing on the island but also ESRA S.East as the District celebrated what was a swing dance night at the La Residencia, in Alqueria Blanca where the S.East meet every Tuesday morning.
It was something different and congratulations went out to District Chairman Liz Murray who came up with what was an evening of jazz, dance and a whole lot more.
Many had taken time out to decorate the venue area with the swing dance banners, and specially printed swing night labels for the vino bottles and cava on arrival. It was all colourful and fun.
Over 60 ESRA members sat down for the three course meal and with all enjoying the barmy night, great company and the welcomed vino it was not long before the local jazz band, Long Time No Swing, started playing tunes from the 30’s, 40’s and beyond. Not only that, friends of the band who have their own swing dance group showed us all how to do the dances of the era and this soon led to the outside dance area becoming full with members joining in the dances and taking in the music. It was a memorable evening and with the raffle raising hundreds of euros for good causes I am sure that all members will be delighted to see the summer swing dance party becoming a regular event on the calendar of ESRA. S. East.
