Palma.—The fiestas in Sa Rapita underway, the local police in Campos are issuing reminders about drinking alcohol in public areas: it is banned and can attract fines from between 900 and 1500 euros as well as confiscation. By public areas, the police mean streets, roads, beaches or indeed anywhere else in the open, excluding of course bar and other establishments’ terraces. It is also prohibited, under local bylaws, for alcohol to be sold or supplied to those who are underage.
The local police have initiated a campaign of information in respect of drinking in public areas, Sa Rapita being a place that typically receives a great number of visitors to its fiestas. Controls are also being conducted in order to prevent botellón street drinking parties and disturbances from noise during the fiestas.
