The Balearic tourism minister, Vice-President Biel Barceló, has met with the mayors of Calvia and Andratx as part of a round of visits to coastal resort areas, designed to assess at first hand the most important projects that are required.

Calvia's Alfonso Rodríguez stressed the need for continuing investment in infrastructure to improve tourist areas, for legislative amendment (with regard to all-inclusives for instance), and for a tourist product that is of quality as well as being innovative and attractive.

With investment in mind, resumption to work on the remodelling of the avenue in Magalluf will resume at the start of November, while work will start on redeveloping the Calle Eucaliptus in Paguera: the total funds for the two projects amount to 2.3 million euros.

Jaume Porsell, the mayor of Andratx, was concerned in particular about the improvement of the port area, the need to regulate holiday rentals, the promotion of hiking tourism and the cultural and natural heritage of Andratx.
