Residents are to ask Palma's council to declare La Llotja-Born and the Calle Fábrica zones of special acoustic protection (ZPAE), saying that they can no longer put up with the noise from the numerous bars and restaurants. Noise problems in La Llotja have resurfaced since the lifting of restrictions on closing times.

The town hall recognises concerns regarding this matter and so will start holding meetings in September with interested parties in order to try and arrive at a solution. However, it is also aware that it is a complex issue, with the interests of businesses clashing with demands by residents for the right to peace and quiet.

At present, the town hall has not decided whether to accede to the request for a ZPAE, but it is being considered.
