Podemos Palma and Som Palma have called for the creation of a network of “refuge cities” to take in people fleeing war-torn parts of North Africa and the Middle East.

The refugee crisis requires an “urgent response” on behalf of public institutions and for this reason the two political groups have asked that Palma be declared a refuge city.

They consider that it is an institutional responsibility to accept people who are living through such human drama and to comply with obligations assumed by Spain as a signatory to the UN convention on refugees.
