The Balearics received 935,194 cruise ship passengers in the first seven months of the year, which represented an increase of almost 18% and placed the ports of the Balearics second behind Barcelona in attracting the most passengers.

Spain received 4.29 million cruise ship passengers in the first seven months of the year, an increase of over 11%. This figure, released by the State Ports, supports a previous forecast of Spain achieving over eight million passengers for the whole year, which will break the record set in 2011.

96% of this cruise traffic comes into the ports of the Balearics, Barcelona and Valencia in the Mediterranean, and of the bay of Cadiz, Vigo, A Coruña and the Canaries.

Barcelona is one of the top five ports in the world, ahead of Rome and Venice. Up until July, it had received 1.28 million cruise passengers, a 7.24% increase.
