I visit this beautiful island at least 2-3 times per year almost always alcudia . The last2 years my normal resort has increased so much it is now untenable for us to stay, they have simply priced themselves out the market as far as I am concerned., the only breadwinner in my household due to wife's poor health. This year we took the plunge and hired a villa through a well known company and at half the price of the resort. I understand the need to "turn a profit" I accept that , but clearly repeat business and loyal guests are what keeps the business flowing. I found out this evening that the prices for next year have risen by 165 euro per person per week, the villa.... Same price. Will I ever find somewhere else to vacate to ... Probably not I consider alcudia the greatest place to visit in Europe and I have visited countless places. But thankfully retailers and restaurants are thriving and the prices are competitive and affordable, to them I say thank you . To the resorts a 15 per cent increase may seem attractive to you but if visitors do as I do and go elsewhere , 15 per cent of nothing is nothing .
