Use of public transport in Palma rose in July, according to figures from the National Statistics Institute which have looked at public transport use across the regions of Spain.

Both bus and metro use were up in Palma, the former having increased by 2.7% and the underground by a mere 0.2%.

In specific cities of the country, bus (and metro) transport numbers were up everywhere, except in Seville, where the bus usage was down 3.4% and the metro by 1.1%.

Palma shared with Barcelona the greatest increase in bus numbers: metro use was, however, up more significantly in Barcelona - by 1.9%. Nationally, urban public transport use rose by 1.6% to over 220 million users: bus by 1.8% and metro by 1.4%.
