On 9 May, 1915, Sister Maria del Buen Camino arrived at the Casa Peña in Puerto Pollensa with the aim of educating and instructing the boys and girls and at the same time caring for and helping the sick poor. A century later and the three Sisters of Charity in Puerto Pollensa - Catalina Ribas, Maria Biblioni and Isabel Rubí - are preparing to leave.

On Sunday afternoon, hundreds of former pupils gathered in the church square to participate in an emotional farewell. This was an event supported by the town hall, the nursery school and current and ex-pupils which had the accompaniment of the town's pipers - Xeremiers Orats - and the folk group Aires de la Cala. The numbers attending were indicative of the mark that the congregation has left on the port.

It was 11 May, 1915, only two days after the arrival of the first Mother Superior, that classes started. There were 23 pupils. A year later there were 55. Though the nuns are leaving, the Sant Vicenç de Paül will continue as it is.
