The survey suggests that the Balearics was the region of Spain that attracted most tourist spending in August - 2,364 million euros, which was a rise of 1.2% and represented 25% of all spending in the country. Compared with the averages for the eight-month period, in August the average total was up to 1,074 euros per tourist, while the daily rate was 124 euros. These showed respective increases of 0.5% and 4.5% over July.
The increase in August is attributed to the growth in the number of tourists, with the British and Italian markets having shown particularly strong growth.
As other surveys have revealed, however, German tourism took a dip in August, and the overall spend by German tourists last month was 1,176 million euros, a fall of 8% compared with 2014. The Balearics was the region to have been most affected by what was a decline in German tourism in August across Spain.
Nevertheless, the Balearics topped the rankings for spend in August, ahead of Catalonia where there was a slight dip of 0.2%. For the eight months to August, Catalonia was where the most was spent - 10,829 million euros (a rise of 4.3%) - followed by the Canaries. The spend there was slightly greater than in the Balearics: 8,540 million, an increase of 4%.

Recession looms fools
There you go - just under 1,000 Euros per tourist! Great income, on a plate. Easy-peasy. Now some idiot wants to tax each and every one of them for being here next time round. Madness!
