Following a meeting with Muro mayor, Martí Fornes, the Council of Majorca's councillor for infrastructure, Mercedes Garrido, has said that the council will commit to undertaking improvements to the main road between Can Picafort and Muro town, a road along which there have been several bad accidents in recent years. Not untypically for an "old carretera", it is narrow in parts with walls right by the road, while it also, in other parts, has blind bends.

There is no such thing as a dangerous road, only dangerous drivers. Never been over a natural mountain pass, - if you can't see to stop, then you don't go, marry your speed with your vision. Drive as if everyone else is an idiot (that's much easier in Spain). I've been driving cars, aeroplanes and yachts for 45 years and this applies to all of them.
I totally agree with comments about Spanish drivers but those won't help the problems with this carretera. The worst points are of course the 2 blind bends near the Arco Iris restaurant. For us neighbours coming out of the nearby side roads it is always a very scary dice with death! Speeding is the main problem although there is a 50km. max. there. This could be reduced to 30 max., and then ban overtaking completely on the other sections. Difficult to see how the road can be widened and the bends reduced. At least the recent re-surfacing has been a welcome improvement.
What needs to be improved is the way the Spanish drive. Ignoring speed limits, tailgating, undertaking, failing to grasp roundabout protocol, failure to use indicators, driving too close in towns to be able to overtake at bus stops or people looking for a parking space etc.etc. - not to mention the agression and banal machism displayed by so many.
