Last week, the Soller railway company, Ferrocarril de Soller, had announced that all takings from train journeys on Saturday would be donated to the Balearic branch of Unicef and to the fight against child malnutrition under the campaign “We Cannot Now Stop.” The result of this charitable initiative was presented on a Soller train at the station in Palma this morning: a cheque for 4,451.60 euros. This was the second time that the railway company had collaborated with Unicef in providing a “solidarity train” in raising the maximum amount possible for what its president, Oscar Mayol, described as a “social malaise which, unfortunately, continues to exist,” namely child malnutrition.
