This weekend sees Carnival parades, masked balls and other events right across Majorca. Most are taking place tomorrow (Saturday), with Sunday being when Palma stages its parades (as also do the likes of Alcudia and Santa Margalida). Carnival continues into next week with the traditional "burial of the sardine" on Tuesday evening, i.e. before Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent.

Saturday, 6 February
(Sa Rua is the main parade; Sa Rueta the children's parade)
Alcudia. 8.30pm: Tapas. Passeig Pere Ventayol (market square). 11pm: Night party - Torrofort and DJ Rocamir. Passeig Pere Ventayol.

Algaida. Sa Rua. 4pm: C. Pare B. Pou and then to Sa Plaça with the band of music. After the parade, the Festa Camestortes - the condemnation of personalities, featuring Algaida comedians.

Andratx. Sa Rua. 4pm: Gathering at Son Mas, parade starts at 5pm.

Arenal. Sa Rua. 3pm: Gathering in C. Costa i Llobera (Son Verí) and then Avda. Miramar to Plaça Meravalles with the Arenal Band of Music.

Badia Gran / Blava. Sa Rueta. 10.30am: From Plaça Pegàs to Plaça Almirall Joan de Borbó. Plus children's entertainment.

Binissalem. Sa Rua. 4pm: Plaça Constitució to Plaça Església and entertainment in the Escola Graduada courtyard.

Buger. Sa Rua. 3.30pm: From the town hall. 8pm: Barbecue and dance. By the Casa Cultura.

Bunyola. Sa Rua. 5pm: Gathering in Sa Plaça, parade from 6pm. 7pm: Dance and costumes' contest. The band of music, two batucadas, flamenco fusion and DJ.

Calvia (village). Sa Rua. 4.30pm: From Ses Quarterades. 6.30pm: DJ party.

Campanet. Sa Rua. 7.30pm: Plaça Son Bordoi via C. Jaume I to Sant Victoria. 11pm: Night party - entertainment from the trio Moon. Plaça Major.

Campos. Sa Rua. 3.30pm. Party in the Plaça de sa Creu with DJ Andreu Lladó from 6pm.

Can Picafort. Sa Rua. 4pm: At the library and 4.30pm in front of Hotel Santa Fe. Children's entertainment and hot chocolate at Plaça Residencia.

Capdepera. Sa Rua. 8.30pm: C. Baltasar Coves to the sports centre and DJ.

Felanitx. Sa Rua. 3pm: Gathering for parade at 3.30pm. Plaça Espanya.

Inca. Sa Rua. 5pm: Calle Fra Juniper Serra and Gran Via de Colom, parade starts at 6pm with accompaniment from batucadas and Unió Musical Inquera. 12 midnight: Night party wirh Som Caparruts and DJs. Plaça Espanya.

Lloret de Vistalegre. Sa Rua. 4.20pm: From Es Pou. Music and DJ.

Lloseta. 4.30pm: Children's costumes party. Songs and games. Plaça Espanya. 11.30pm: Night party with Ves Hi-Tu and Los Grillos. Lloseta theatre, C. Pou Nou.

Llucmajor. Sa Rua. 4.30pm: Gathering in Passeig Jaume III and then parade from C. Bisbe Taixequet via town hall, C. Jaume I, C. Major and back to Plaça Espanya.

Manacor. Sa Rua. 6.30pm: Gathering at Plaça sa Bassa with batucada and then parade to Plaça Ramon Llull. 8pm: Carnival party with DJs, musical effects and lights, plus food stalls. 9.30pm: Line dance. Plaça Rector Rubí. Swing dance and music - Swing People. Plaça ses Verdures. 10pm: Concert - La Vereda. Plaça sa Bassa.

Mancor de la Vall. Sa Rueta. 11.30am: From Plaça Espanya to Plaça de l'Ajuntament. Children's entertainment with Marta i Marina.

Montuiri. Sa Rua. 5pm: From Sa Plaça and back. With the band of music. Party follows on.

Palma. 9pm: Masked ball, Plaça Joan Carles I.

Pollensa. Sa Rua. 5pm: From the gardens in Via Pollentia. Xaranga music and photocall. Plaça Major. 7pm: Children's disco. Sant Domingo Cloister. 11pm: Night party - Sant Domingo Cloister.

Puerto Soller. Sa Rua. 3.30pm: Can Miró car park, parade starts at 4pm.

Sa Coma. Sa Rua. 5pm: From the Sa Coma municipal office, plus Batukoma drums.

Sa Pobla. Sa Rua. 4pm: Gathering in Polígon Can Tró and then parade to Plaça Major and DJ music.

Sant Llorenc. Sa Rua. 7pm: From Plaça de l'Ajuntament to Plaça Església plus band of music and the Petra batucada, followed by DJs and contest. 11.45pm: Night party - Onion Rabbits. Plaça Vella.

Santa Maria del Cami. Sa Rua. 5.30pm: Avda. Jaume III to Plaça Vila with accompaniment by the band of music and then DJs.

Son Carrió. Sa Rua. 5pm: From Plaça Mossen Alcover with the band of music to the sports centre and costumes and dance contest with the group Spaghetti.

Son Serra de Marina. Sa Rua. 5pm: By Bar Sis Pins. Hot chocolate for all.

Son Servera. Sa Rua. 8pm: Avda. Constitució to Plaça Mercat with batucada and the band of music. Dance and DJ.

Vilafranca. Sa Rua. 4pm: Avda. Escoles via Plaça Tomeu Penya and return to C. Palma. Children's entertainment. Plaça Tomeu Penya. 11pm: Night party - Parc Josep Maria Llompart. Music from Farigola, DJ Pep Vanrell, DJ Quintos.


Sunday, 7 February
Alcudia. Sa Rua. 4.30pm: From the church.

Arenal. Sa Rueta. 11am: From Avda. Miramar (in front of Hotel San Diego) to Plaça Major. With batucada drummers and children's entertainment.

Lloseta. Sa Rua. 3pm: Gathering at the Ermita del Coco, parade starts at 4pm.

Muro. Sa Rua. 3.30pm: Gathering in Plaça Comte d'Empúries and then procession with Unió Artística Murera.

Palma. Sa Rueta. 10.30am-1.30pm: Various spots with different activities and entertainment. Plaça Mercat, C. Unió, Plaça Joan Carles I, Passeig Born, Plaça Reina, Plaça La Llotja, Hort del Rei, Avda. Antoni Maura, Passeig Sagrera. Sa Rua. 4pm: Gatherings in Avda. Portgual, Via Alemanya and Comte de Sallent. 5pm: Parade from Passeig Mallorca along Jaume III, Born and to Antoni Maura.

Pina (Algaida). Sa Rueta. 4pm: Party with music and snacks in the square.

S'Arraco. Sa Rua. 11.30am: Gathering, parade at 12 midday.

Santa Margalida. Sa Rua. 3.30pm: C. Miquel Ordinas via Plaça s'Abeurador to Plaça Vila.
