Agreements for collaboration on the Calvia programme, "European Winter", have been signed between the town hall and the hotelier associations in Palmanova-Magalluf, Paguera-Cala Fornells, Illetes-Cas Catala, Portals Nous-Bendinat and Santa Ponsa.

This programme of free activities for tourists who come to Calvia from October to April and who stay in hotels was started in 1992 with the aim of tackling seasonality, boosting the tourism sector and contributing to an improvement in employment and business activity.

The agreements now signed allow the programme to continue this year (the current one will end in April), with the main management falling to the associations in Palmanova-Magalluf and Santa Ponsa. These will design and schedule activities in co-ordination with the town hall and the programme will be made available to clients of hotels, tour operators and travel agencies that operate in the municipality.

The town hall will also be distributing the programme in tourist information offices, with registration for activities being also made through hotels. In looking to deal with the problem of seasonality and to lengthen the tourism season, the town hall is widening the programme of activities.
