Following the report concerning the difficulties posed to the users of wheelchairs and mobility scooters in Puerto Pollensa because of the high kerbs created by the pedestrianisation work, the town hall''s councillor for urban planning, Tomeu Cifre Bennàsar, told the Bulletin today that solutions will be in place within two weeks: in effect, therefore, the final part of the first phase of the pedestrianisation scheme.

I've been visiting PP for over 20 years... I've got a lot of family history there. At least a visit per year. It's a beautiful part of the world. Now, without sounding too sad, I'd like to point out that I have been avidly watching the development of the paving along the sea front from the online live webcams. In the build up to our Easter break there, it was nice wondering what it was going to look like... Many hours have been spent walking up and down that pathway holding mum/dad's hand as I jumped from wall to wall... But OH MY DAYS I was disappointed when I saw the state of it at Easter. Not far from being finished, it looks like a building site. Young children could have done a better job. I don't know whose job it was to organise it all, but they should not be in charge of anything...! It looks awful. Unfinished, uneven, huge holes, bits hanging off, plastic undersheeting hanging out.. and, of course, a lack of access... After to speaking to a local, we found out that the job went massively behind schedule so they just had to fill the rest with concrete. It looks a bit American Themepark-ish! It starts off beautiful at the roundabout and then just gets worse...! They're now being out-done by Alcudia, whose seafront is now gorgeous compared to this. Such a shame. The new one-way system is also causing HAVOC in the town. It forces ALL traffic through the tiny car park after the roundabout. From the apartment overlooking the roundabout, it looked like the M25 in rushhour down there several times..!! Not good at all. Its not going to stop me going, nope. But My beautiful walk from Pollensa Park won't quite be the same. Such a shame.
