A Palma judge ruled today that a 60-year-old man, arrested this week by the Guardia Civil, be jailed for having carried out at least 15 breaks-ins and robberies in the Camp de Mar area.
According to Guardia Civil sources, an investigation was opened after a number of reports were received regarding thefts from hotels rooms and private properties. Eventually, the suspect, a Tunisian, was identified and was also accused of carrying out a spate of robberies at a well-known hotel in Camp de Mar on 31 December, 2015, while guests were celebrating New Year.
The 60-year-old apparently gained entry in to the rooms by forcing the balcony doors. Following his arrest, the Guardia Civil also managed to pin him to a break-in at a property in Santa Ponsa.
At the moment, the suspect is connected to 15 robberies but Guardia Civil sources said that the figure could rise as they continue with their investigation.

Which is why I always get a safe deposit box and put my money, watch, passport and flight documents in it and keep the key with me at all times. This one-man crime wave might have be stopped thanks to the Guardia Civil but no doubt there will be others so always keep you valuables safe.
