The town hall is seeking to assure residents that police presence on the streets will not be affected by the cancellation of the introduction of ten officers on secondment. It is also saying that it is pressing the national government's delegation in the Balearics to increase the number of Guardia Civil officers.
Looking ahead to next year, when the new organisational structure for the force will be in place (it is to start this October), the plan is to not have temporary summer police officers but to increase force numbers for the whole year, thus giving greater stability.

Good news - let's hope they get stuck in and don't hang around at the edges and just watch bad things happening.
So much for the much-vaunted ''new Magaluf'' A few new hotels are never going to change that or the fact that in the summer months, most of its tourists are going for a big p**s up and a s**g
We had four police on Santa Ponsa roundabout the other night. 50 metres away one way were looky men selling their wares and 50 metres the other way were the prostitutes waiting to pounce.
