It's been reckoned for long enough that Fornalutx is Majorca's prettiest village and it has now been confirmed that it is. Fornalutx's inclusion on the list of Spain's prettiest villages was mentioned a month ago, and at the International Atlantic Trade Fair in Las Palmas, which finished on Sunday, the president of the association Los Pueblos más Bonitos de España made it official. As from 1 January next year, Fornalutx will formally join the ranks alongside 56 other villages - 44 that were already on the list plus twelve others which have been included for 2017.

Fornalutx is the only village in Majorca or the Balearics to appear on the list. The association, founded in 2011 and modelled on Les Plus Beaux Villages de France, has included a host of villages in the likes of Aragon and Castile and Leon and now seems to be broadening its inspections.
