Antoni Bauzá is the president of one of the various taxi-driver associations. His is within the federation of Balearic transport businesses, which in turn is within the Balearic Confederation of Business Associations.

Bauzá has been one of the more vocal critics of the agreement that the regional transport ministry wants taxi-driver representatives to sign next week. This will ratify the tourist resort bus services and some other issues related to the taxi sector, e.g. grants for acquiring electric and hybrid vehicles.

He is proposing a referendum of the whole of the taxi sector, saying that the document the government wants representatives to sign is so "ambiguous" that only the whole sector can decide whether to accept or reject it.

His reluctance to sign the document came after legal advisers at his association informed him that some measures it contains are questionable in terms of application.

Bauzá points out that the different associations have agreed that there will be no more protest or strike action; at least for now.
