Two people have been killed in a car and lorry collision on the Sant Martí bypass in Puerto Alcudia. This road runs behind the Bellevue complex and connects the main road that continues from the motorway with Playa de Muro.

The accident occurred around midday. It would seem that the car was exiting the Avenida Tucan (the road along which Hidropark is located) but failed to stop and was hit by the incoming lorry.

The two people who have been killed were a couple on an Imserso holiday for Spanish senior citizens. Two other people in the car are in a serious condition and have been taken to Son Espases Hospital. The driver of the lorry is being treated for shock.

The junction between the Avenida Tucan and the bypass and a similar junction further along the bypass for Avenida Pedro Mas y Reus have been the scenes of fatal accidents in the past.
