The Guardia Civil have arrested two men, described as being of "Maghreb origin", who are accused of having burgled at least twenty rooms in Santa Ponsa hotels. Officers from the Guardia Civil caught the two in the act while robbing a room in a hotel that was under surveillance.

The burglaries occurred when rooms were unoccupied. The two are said to have had a "special skill" in opening doors without arousing suspicion. Stolen goods were mobiles, electronic devices and items of jewellery as well as money. The Guardia are keeping the investigation open as they suspect that more rooms were burgled.

The two have appeared in court and been ordered to be detained in prison.
