King Felipe, Queen Letizia and their two daughters are not expected to arrive in Majorca until Thursday. Other royals, meanwhile, have started their summer vacations on the island.

On Sunday, the son of Princess Elena, Froilán de Marichalar y Borbón, arrived at the Marivent Palace in Palma with his cousins, the children of Princess Cristina and Iñaki Urdangarin. On Monday, the group, including Sofia, the Queen Mother, went to Puerto Alcudia.

It is usual for the royal children to spend the first day of their holidays engaged in some form of nautical activity. Typically, this has been sailing at Calanova, but on this occasion they tried their hand at wakeboarding. The Wake Park on the Lago Menor in Puerto Alcudia is the only one of its type in Majorca and attracts wakeboarders from all over Europe.

It is not absolutely certain yet that Queen Letizia and the children will accompany the King on Thursday or follow him. The King will meet leading politicians at the Almudaina Palace on Friday. On Saturday, the Copa del Rey regatta gets under way. It is thought that the King will take part.
