The Animal Defence Association in Majorca (Asociación de Defensa de Animales) has launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise money to build a new animal refuge. The association wants this refuge to help with what it says are some 16,000 abandoned animals in Majorca.

The summer holidays, the association points out, lead to an increase in the number of abandoned animals. Many of the different organisations which care for animals do not, however, have sufficient resources to do this satisfactorily.

The crowdfunding appeal is via GoFundMe - www.gofundme.com/adam-conseguir-un-hogar-para-ellos - and the association is looking for 20,000 euros for the shelter. The association has identified a plot of land in Son Fusteret, Palma where it would like to build the refuge.
