The Aemet meteorology agency has updated its forecast for next week in Majorca. It had already predicted highs of 40C, but has today suggested that they could reach 42C.

Today (Friday), the highs have been around 36C. From tomorrow, the maximums are expected to increase. The hottest parts of the island next week are likely to be in northern parts, with 40C (at least) expected in Inca by Wednesday.

The highest temperature ever recorded in Majorca (record-keeping prior to the 1960s was not particularly reliable) was in July 1994, when 44.6C was registered in Muro.
