A coach transporting holidaymakers from Calas de Mallorca to the airport caught fire this afternoon.
At around quarter past four, passengers on the Transunion coach alerted the driver to flames. Everyone got off the coach and there were no injuries. Fire crews attended the scene, as did agents from the environment ministry's Ibanat agency, but were unable to prevent the coach from being totally burned out.
The incident was along the road by woodland between Cala Murada and Calas de Mallorca. The road had to be closed to traffic.

My family and I were on this Transunion coach. Have to thank all the people that helped us on the roadside. We were very lucky to get off alive. Whole family a nervous reckon, especially my daughters aged 12, 6 and 2. We have lost all our luggage and personal belongings. Very disappointed by the lack of support and understanding by the lady at the Transunion desk at Palma airport and the lady who answered the emergency phone for the Jumbo Tours, both who just said "what do you want us to do, go to the other", infact the lady in the phone just put the phone down on me, whilst we were on the road side. Thankfully we are home now.
Thankfully everyone safe but hope the road has re-opened. It's our only way out. Don't fancy walking back over the beach at midnight.
