Palma's mayor Antoni Noguera is stressing the importance of pacifying the Paseo Marítimo so that it is no longer a highway. In future it will be somewhere for the public to enjoy walking by the sea. "It must be a symbol of the Palma of the future, a more friendly city with greater values."

He was speaking during an event organised by the Balearic Ports Authority - First Innovation Day: Walking together towards the future. He highlighted the steps being taken by both the town hall and the ports authority in realising objectives for the Paseo Marítimo."We have an historic opportunity with the port strategic plan and the city's general urban plan to advance the relationship between the port and the city."
