Another road fatality in Son Serra de Marina

A 22-year-old motorcyclist was killed this afternoon (Sunday) when he crashed into a car that was turning left from the main Alcudia to Arta road at Rancho Grande in Son Serra de Marina.

The accident occurred around 13.25. The car was already turning left when the motorcyclist tried to overtake. He went straight into the car and he was thrown some thirty metres.

Medics as well as Santa Margalida police and Guardia Civiil Tráfico officers were rapidly on the scene. The motorcyclist was already dead. The woman driver of the car was unharmed.

This accident has happened only a few weeks after there was a fatality at the same turning. Last year, four members of a German family were killed when turning into Rancho Grande.

The road at this point is straight and there is good visibility. Nevertheless, it has become a black spot. Perhaps more than anything, consideration needs to be given to slowing speeds.
