A 61-year-old Palma taxi-driver was taken to Son Espases Hospital in a serious condition yesterday morning after being stabbed in the neck and abdomen.

The incident occurred around two o'clock. The driver picked up a fare and this person assaulted him while in the taxi. Robbery is assumed to have been the motive. The assailant fled the scene, and the driver managed to notify his control and then tried to drive himself to the hospital. He stopped and collapsed unconscious by the Can Valero industrial estate.

A forensic team spent time yesterday examining the car for evidence to assist in locating the attacker.
