Malén's disappearance has been marked in previous years.

It is four years ago to the day that fifteen-year-old Malén Ortiz disappeared. This afternoon, relatives and friends will be taking part in a rally organised by the Asociación SOS Desparecidos and Malén's mother. It will take place at the Santa Ponsa roundabout at half four. A poster with photos of Malén has been distributed. It ends with the message "truth and justice for Malén".

A petrol station security camera captured the last-known sighting of Malén. She was on her way to her boyfriend's house from her school in Santa Ponsa. The time was a quarter to four on 2 December, 2013. For at least six months after her disappearance it was a matter that most occupied police force time. There were various searches, including those of property, there were trawls through social networks. But nothing came to light and still has not.

I remember the posters concerning this girl when I lived there shortly after she wemt missing.

The thing I always remember as being strange was the fact that every time new pictures were put utp around the area they were very soon after torn down or vandalised.
