Hundreds of thousands are expected to take to the streets of the capital while millions more will march in their own communities so that the collective voices of the March For Our Lives movement will be heard.
Tt the moment more than 700 events are going to be taking place across the world, including here in Palma. Yesterday, March For Our Lives Mallorca was presented in La Llonja. The event has been organised by members of the North American community on the island, led by Jeff Harter.
He explained that this is no longer a problem isolated to the United States. "We all have children and we want them to be protected. Apart from wishing to show our solidarity and compassion to the victims of gun violence, we want to send a clear message that Majorca, along with the rest of the world, wants a safe future for our children. American culture has spread across the world, fashion, music, food, film. I hope not, but next it could be gun or school violence, and we don’t want that. We respect what the brave children at the school in Florida have done on speaking out and on 24 March we hope many people here in Majorca, whatever their nationality, will come out and join us in the march at 10am from La Llonja.
"We need to act here in Europe before it becomes a reality. We need to all get together and back this movement in the United States and tell Washington that the rest of world cares and is watching."

I have had many, many heated debates with Americans, including friends, who believe that they have the right to bear arms and they will not allow anyone to take that right away from them. You can scream blue murder but you will not change the minds of neanderthals. As the numbers of innocent victims rises, it only stiffens their resolve and with the NRA pumping money into the pockets of politicians, they will never give up this almighty cash cow to save lives. This old tired rhetoric that guns don't kill people, people kill people is wearing thin.
